We have always had a soft spot for Mosch¡no! When it comes through the door here we are instantly thrilled to the gills to see and try it on. Whether it’s a contemporary piece by Jeremy Scott or a vintage number from the past, we just adore the tongue in cheek  humour that the brand evokes. Our current display features two items from the witty fashion house. Can you tell which one is contemporary and which is from the 1980’s? Take a peek below for the answer.

Now that we’ve blown our beak off about one of our favs, let’s get back to discussing the rest of our white window. There is nothing more crisp and clean looking than an ensemble of white. Wearing white is suitable for the following occasions; getting married, going to a white party, getting off of a charge in court (tried and proven x 2), meeting the future in-laws and ascension to heaven. Let us help you be a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

For the past two weeks the window has been featuring mostly contemporary designers. This week we are taking it back to our old school vintage ways.

We often field the question; How old does an item have to be, to be considered vintage?  The general consensus for clothing is anything 20+ years.  To which our ego then kicks in and refuses to listen to this because if you’re like us you don’t want to think of yourself as, dare we say it, “vintage”. *Gasp* So for safety’s sake let us set the turning point to 1980, shall we? We can all sleep soundly now.

Oh, and we will let you know when we have located the fountain of youth.

You can never go wrong in navy, it’s the next best neutral to black in our opinion. It’s also one of the most difficult colours to find out there in the retail world for some reason.

Colours aside, how to die for is that centre Chanel suit (sold)? Well you’ll be beyond after knowing that it is an original design from Mlle. Coco Chanel herself! That’s right folks, this beauty is a numbered couture peice dating from the 1960’s. The skirt has been altered into a mini (we know-so sacrilege) but it does make it much more contemporary and wearable. Most importantly,  the jacket is 100% original and stunning. It’s been awhile since we’ve had one of Mlle’s originals, but well worth the wait.

Our window also features a runway 1980’s Moschino necklace (sold) paired with a contemporary Louis Vuitton brocade, lace & tulle dress (sold) to the left. The matching LV jacket (sold) has been featured on the right mannequin overtop a silk bubble hem dress with corseted bodice. All clothing items are a size 4.

Back to black and we are super excited about the dress (sold)on the right…. She hails from the early 1960’s and is one of the first creations from the house of MISSONI!!! And, and, and it’s brand new with it’s original tags! (Totally geeked out over this peice when it arrived.) We feel so blessed that the vintage gods have rewarded us with one of their holy angels. We should also note the 1970’s Dior couture velvet jacket  (sold) in the middle- lined in silk and serial numbered.

We just realized how fashionably bipolar we must appear, going from a saturated magenta ‘pop’ of a window to these somewhat somber hues. Well we are all about contrast, and dressing according your mood. So when your next occasion requires more of a seriously chic look-we’ve got you covered.

We had our new window all ready to go for this week, but it was just too fabulous. As soon as we took the pic, the McQueen on the right got snapped up-literally! Buh bye ↓

So it’s bonus time now at the Meow Meow, and here’s is our fresh (pearl) window.

Recognize that 1960’s hand embellished dress on the left? That probably because you have seen it being modelled by Johanna Soderberg from the band First Aid Kit. They are featured in September’s issue of Fashion magazine, out now.

These outfits are as busy as the bees this time of year. Whether or not you’re one for wearing patterns, you have to appreciate a great print when you see one. How tongue-in-cheek is that centre Moschino blazer? It would be a fabulous statement if one were to wear it into a courtroom as if to say ‘c’mon, hit me with your best shot’! Whatever you do, do not wear it while strolling by an archery, dart board, or firing range…
