Growing up in the country, I have many fond memories of mother nature’s beauty. One day, while romping through the cedar forest behind our home, I came across a freaky alien like pod. I soon was educated in the fact that it was a monarch cocoon, and was amazed how it was speckled in gold. So take a cue from the butterflies, swaddle yourself in green and gold this holiday season.

We often have customers that come in because of what they like in the window. Most of these people say that they check out our displays while driving by in their cars. And there have been a couple of rear-endings right out front of the shop…. Is there a connection? We like to think so, it facilitates our fashion ego. So this is a public service announcement to all of you rubberneckers; Thank you for your gazing, but please pull over to view our frocks. And this week, “Halt for Cobalt.”

We would like to pay homage to the first snowfall of the season, with this window.  Although it’s cold and hard to drive in, you have to admit, it’s really pretty! Mother nature knows best, so imitate your surroundings with one of these frocks. Appease her, we need her to go easy on us this winter!

We love our chocolate brown. It’s the friendly neutral, in our opinion. Not as severe like black or as draining as tan, it’s always been an option. Too bad we aren’t as friendly to chocolate as it is to us. For whatever reason we dismiss it, like the black sheep in our family. We need to view it in a new light, for it has great potential. We have decided to pair it with Mediterranean blue for this week’s window.

So we have decided to change things up a bit with our weekly ‘On display’ post… (Since the sun doesn’t like to co-oporate with us and just HAS to come up and shine on a weird angle……)We have decided to gently coerce our Judy’s to wheel themselves over to the wall for their photo shoot.  They gave us a little attitute with the squeak of their century old wheels, but obliged us anyways. Please enjoy our bow themed window.

This week’s window is a perfect example of how to wear vintage. The matching jacket and dress were meant to be worn together, back in the 1960’s that is…..But today it would be a bit of an overkill. That’s why we have priced them individually, so that you can pick and choose or have both.  The jacket would be great over a blouse paired with pants, for say, din din with the friends?

The shorter the days and less sun means we can give you the rich colours you desire, especially red. You see red is a very frail pigment, and it fades easily when in the sun or window display of  180 Avenue Rd.  We are protective of our delicate sensitive reds until this time of year, but now they are free to show you their true colours!

Ahh… what’s that? You like what you see? Oh….you’re making us ‘blush’.  Whether you call it  champagne or blush, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with the subtle hint of colour these three quietly beautiful ladies have to offer.

On display

Our new favorite colour is indigo. We are obsessed actually, it’s so fresh and goes great with gray or black. It’s like navy’s freak cousin that we can’t get enough of! So we find ourselves always going over to navy’s house hoping that indigo is there…..

Are you considering a new hair colour for fall? Perhaps a blonde or platinum? Do blondes really have more fun when they are always touching up their roots? We don’t do scalps, but we can help you get a great dress to match yours, whatever colour you go with.
