Toot our own horn

Any of you who have met Arthur know that he’s far from being a shy or timid soul. It’s often hard for me to get a word in edgewise with him, and that’s on a good day. This week I was introduced to a whole different side of him when Jean Paul Gaultier came in to shop for some inspiration. Arthur became so soft spoken and actually listened attentively when spoken to. It was mystifying really. I guess the cat got his tongue.

The 10th party

Just a big ‘thank-you’ to all of you who sent us congratulatory wishes and came out last Saturday to our party. We had a blast and look forward to what the next 10 years have to bring!

The always chic Hannah Hoppe.

Thank-you for 10 years!

It was 10 years ago, April 1, 2006 to be exact, that I got the keys for 180 Avenue Rd. With much energy & enthusiasm I was hell-bent to bring Toronto the best selection of jaw dropping vintage and luxury goods. After 7 days of renovations, The Cat’s Meow was ready to swing open it’s doors for business, on April 8, 2006.

↑The evening before the grand opening.(Pardon the dye job...)

My goal is, and has always been, to provide you with the most well curated inventory in a comfortably chic environment. I have the best customers, consignors and staff!  Throughout the years you’ve made The Cat’s Meow what it is today, and for that I am endlessly thankful!

First day open.

Arthur and I are here to help!

This Saturday (April 2, 10-5pm) we will be celebrating with a Tax-Free Sale! Everything in store including our already marked down items in the sale room will be tax-free for you (some exceptions apply, but not many!) AND a delicious cake will be served around noon! Museum Couture in the window, sale, cake, party?! It will be fun, so please join us-we’d love to see you.

Toot our horn

We just received a pleasant email from our customer, Lisa Eisen. It reads;

“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the store!  My sister-in-law and I came in today to begin her search for her wedding dress… and walked out an hour later with her dress in hand.  We had an absolutely fabulous experience.  Your selection is amazing, the girl working today was absolutely wonderful, and the whole vibe of the experience was exactly what we were looking for.  The first dress she tried on was a hit.  I will definitely be back when it comes time to my big day… perhaps to find something for myself for my brother’s wedding as well.  So thank you again!”

Hopefully we will get a snap of the dress after sis-in-law’s big day! We will keep you all posted.

Who's that girl?

Have you ever been driving by our store and noticed the ‘suicidal lady’ up on the roof? This mannequin has been getting more and more attention over the years, especially when her skirt  gets flipped up over her head by a (perverted) breeze. Well, we thought we would dedicate a post to her as she never gets the blog attention her fellow Judies do.  Whether permitting, she is a dutiful dame always wearing a dress that matches our weekly window feature. So next time you go zooming by, why don’t you give the gal a wave before she goes into hybernation this winter?

For the past 7 years we have been greeted daily by our blonde wall lady. We never really did have a name for her…. Let’s remember her as Brick Betty. We say remember because today Brick Betty was put to rest and buried (under a coat of paint).  We have been bracing for this day for the past two years. You see we called in the cosmetic department and have been getting the old girl “freshened” when needed. But there’s only so much the pros could do before it got redic. So goodbye Bretty, we will miss you.

And now, onto our blank canvas;

Do you have any suggestions? If so, let us know. We would love to hear your ideas, just click on ‘Contact’.

We're back!

So after 1 week and 1 day, we are back up and running. We are thrilled to the gills with the shop’s new look and want to know what you think. Come and visit us before Jan.  29th and say the code phrase “The Cat’s Back”,  to receive 10% off of your purchase (*some restrictions may apply).  Until then, here’s some pics to tantalize your taste buds.

Nip/tuck time!

We are going to be closed the week of January 13th for renovations.  So excited to show you the “new us”, (that is when the bandages are removed…)We will keep you posted via twitter on our progress, follow us @thecatsmeowmeow
