A very special On Display!

We have rolled out the red carpet, literally, for our big 10th year anniversary window! We are so excited to show you some couture pieces from our personal collection. So if you’re coming this Saturday to our party (from 10-5) you will get an exclusive peek at 2 never before exhibited gowns which showcase fashion’s golden era. And if you can’t make it on Saturday, then please click to view the image below, we promise you won’t regret it!  We have entitled this window ‘Possible Conversations’.

The left couture gown is by the “Master”, Cristobal Balenciaga. It is constructed with a cream silk jacquard fabric featuring a chrysanthemum design and long crystal bead fringe sleeves.  This piece hails from the winter 1961 collection and is documented in the fashion memoir ‘Balenciaga’ by Marie-Andrée Jouve.

The right gown is a 1952 Christian Dior couture gown. (It has thin straps but is short in the torso so we tucked them in for display) It is made of a cream cotton organza and encrusted with gold beaded ‘bursts’. Tiny cotton flowers and prong set crystals are also hand applied throughout. Truly a dream!

Balenciaga Edition Shades

The house of Balenciaga just dug into the archives of Cristobal, to revive these 1960’s sunglasses.  Why not have the originals, at a fraction of the cost of the new copies? This amber colour has not been re-issued, making them even more noticeable and desirable. Made in France. Sold
