Chocolate hues and vining grapes set the tone for this label heavy autumn display. Go from day to cocktail hour in that one-pocketed Prada on the right with a toss of the cardigan/blazer. Separates are not to be overlooked over on the left. Dior ruffles and ribbons abound on that romantic crochet cardigan. It’s paired with a warm wool Celine pleated skirt which would look sweet with some tall leather boots. And there is loads more in store kittens!

So our Golden Girls window last week went a little viral over on our Instagram account. Don’t know the ins and outs of why or how but we had over 479 likes on it. That’s huge for us! I’m hoping this Santa red display has the same effect on people. But alas, I have a confession to make… As soon as the Dior on the left got wheeled into place it got snatched up by one of our regulars.  If you’re a Dior loving size 2-4, so sorry for the tease.

Veering away from our usual frock filled windows, we are focusing this week on outerwear instead. In particular; the Burberry trench.  Ever wonder why they are called ‘trench’ coats? Well, it’s because Burberry (or Aquascutum-the jury is still out on this) developed the coat for use by the British and French soldiers fighting in the trenches during WWI. Now you know! Get ready to fight the elements this fall and dodge those drops in a classic piece that is tried and true.

I’m releasing my inner dominatrix this week (not really) by giving you a black leather filled window. Fun fact; I cut my teeth in many a retail shop before opening the Meow Meow and Danier leather (RIP) was one of them. Therefore I may know a thing or two about skins. One things for sure, I can tell you that all three items featured here are made of fine supple lamb leather. Only the best for you kittens!

A very special On Display!

We have rolled out the red carpet, literally, for our big 10th year anniversary window! We are so excited to show you some couture pieces from our personal collection. So if you’re coming this Saturday to our party (from 10-5) you will get an exclusive peek at 2 never before exhibited gowns which showcase fashion’s golden era. And if you can’t make it on Saturday, then please click to view the image below, we promise you won’t regret it!  We have entitled this window ‘Possible Conversations’.

The left couture gown is by the “Master”, Cristobal Balenciaga. It is constructed with a cream silk jacquard fabric featuring a chrysanthemum design and long crystal bead fringe sleeves.  This piece hails from the winter 1961 collection and is documented in the fashion memoir ‘Balenciaga’ by Marie-Andrée Jouve.

The right gown is a 1952 Christian Dior couture gown. (It has thin straps but is short in the torso so we tucked them in for display) It is made of a cream cotton organza and encrusted with gold beaded ‘bursts’. Tiny cotton flowers and prong set crystals are also hand applied throughout. Truly a dream!

One should always keep people guessing, espescially when it comes to fashion. We love mixing up vintage with new for that unique look. It defines oneself amongst a sea of predictable. So this week,  we have all new contemporary luxury designer dresses paired with vintage accessories. The silk Alberta Ferretti on the left is about a size 4 and is shown with a vintage crystal belt and necklace. The wool tweed Dior in the centre (sold)is a size 4-6 and has been decorated with a vintage Chanel camellia brooch. The hand crochet silk Oscar on the right is a size 10-12 and is belted with a deco jet flapper strand (can be used as a necklace as well).
